The boy Baz joins your kingdom as a new subject.
This quest is available after you complete "The Lamont Swamp" to free Baz from the Lamont tree in the Gloom Swamp. Baz is a 10 year old boy who wants to have adventures and grow up to be a dragon hunter. In these quests you'll help him get settled into his new home in your kingdom, and then investigate some strange noises he hears in the night. Finally, you'll build a "Giant Trap" that you can use to catch random animals.

The Giant Trap is awarded when you complete Quest 7, "Creeper Trap". Baz wants to try to capture whatever is making the strange noises outside at night, and he thinks it's a Giant.
There's a small chance to get a special rare animal. More often it will produce a common animal, for example a baby goose.

Our new Subject, Baz, needs some help restoring his house and getting moved into your Kingdom. Help Baz get situated, and don't forget to collect taxes from his house--no free rent, even for kids.
Hints for All Quests: Remember that a requirement to "have" something means that you can prepare it in advance. But a requirement that you gather, harvest, or craft something means just that - having it in advance won't count. Be careful not to make or collect those things before you've started the relevant quest, or you'll just need to do it again. However, items that take a long time to craft can be started in advance - just don't click to collect them until you're on the relevant quest. Also, take a look at the materials required to make any crafted items - you can often save time by getting those together in advance. A requirement to harvest or tend something usually (but not always) gives credit for doing it either in your own kingdom or in a neighbor's kingdom, unless it specifically says otherwise. Remember that when you're helping in a neighbor's kingdom, you get to keep any pails of water, shells, sand, wood logs, stones, honey, berries, ogres' belches, or grubs that you collect - but you do not get to keep anything you collect from their animals or crops. Finally, if you have any problems with a quest, report it to Zynga Customer Service. They can often help fix your problem, and if they can't, they'll log your complaint to let development know how many people are having the same problem.

The Duke, Yvette, and Alastair are concerned about foul smells and new monsters coming from deep inside the Gloom, and they want to help you find the source of it all. This quest series brings us new land to explore and expand. It introduces a new kind of beastie - the tough Gloom Orc. And it unlocks the Purity Talisman recipe in the Studio. Purity Talismans can clear Swamp Roots. You need Aquamarines to craft them, which you can find by mining rocks, collecting from mining camps, banishing Gloom Orcs, or asking friends. Finally when you complete all the quests, you'll see a preview teaser for a future quest farther down the Slimy River to defeat Lamont the mighty and sinister Gloom Tree.
Purity Talisman crafting recipe: 1.5 hours; 3 Aquamarines (ask friends or find while mining), 2 Charm Bracelets (ask friends), 1 Silver Ore, 5 Ogre's Belches.
Tip: Collect Ogre's Belches in neighbors' kingdoms to save some energy. You'll need a lot of them.
If you haven't yet explored the areas leading up to the Gloom Swamp, the Duke will give you an introductory quest to get you there. Otherwise, skip directly to the Gloom Swamp Quest Guide.
