Control where your CastleVille neighbors appear in your kingdom

It's simple! You can easily pick the location in your kingdom where you want your visiting neighbors to appear. All you need to do is place your Royal Inn at the spot. Neighbors "spawn" near the Royal Inn, so they'll appear wherever you choose to place it. This is a great feature that came with the introduction of the Royal Inn to the game. And it makes sense, after all, since the Inn is basically a place for visitors to stay.
Why should you care? When you hover the cursor over a neighbor, before you click "Accept Help", you'll see blue highlights around the things they want to tend. This gives you a chance to refuse their help, in case they're trying to do something you don't want. If the blue highlights show that they're going to clobber a Gloom Beast you want to keep, chop a special tree, or mine a special rock you can click the 'X' on the Accept Help balloon to refuse. But it's not possible to see your entire kingdom in one screen, after you've expanded past the early stages of the game. That means you may not be able to see those highlights, if they're far away from where the neighbor appears.
To protect your special things, you can create a "Protection Zone" for them. Place your Royal Inn at the center, and when neighbors appear, you'll be able to see if anything close enough to fit on one screen gets highlighted. Keep your special trees, rocks, Gloom Beasties, etc in the zone and you'll never be surprised again by a neighbor damaging them.
One last tip - if you're not already using Full Screen mode to play, click the "Toggle Fullscreen" icon on the right side of your screen. You'll be able to see a lot more of your kingdom, without the distraction of other Facebook ads, feeds, and so on.
Note: The friends in the picture, in case they recognize themselves, are in no way to blame for any bad behaviour. They're very good neighbors and just happened to be visting for the screen grab.

More 'protection zone'
In addition, to see more of your kingdom, don't forget to toggle the "zoom out" icon; while it reduces the size of all items in your kingdm, it expands the amount of the kingdom you can see (and thus protect).
Don't forget, you can also click & hold the inn and drag your kingdom (If you place the inn in the center, you can drag to all four corners). It takes a bit of time, but it is helpful in preserving your "special" items; I also postpone accepting occasionally in order to remove a beastie, to start crafting an item in an unused building or to plant a plot that is empty-- but shows up blue.
