Giovanni's Gloom Experiments Quest Guide

Help Giovanni fight the Gloom! Assist Giovanni in building a contraption that will help dispel the Gloom surrounding your Kingdom!

Note: Players will need to be Level 17 or above, and have completed quest #2 of Giovanni's Studio Mastery quest line in order to receive this 7-part quest line.

Quest 1: Gloom Investigation

Quest tasks

• Use 1 Beastie Potion (use from the Consumables tab in your Inventory)
• Buy 3 Gloomed Rocks (purchase under the Nature section of the Market)
• Visit 4 Neighbors

Quest rewards

• 2,000 Coins
• 40 XP

Quest 2: A Little Experiment

Quest tasks

• Have 6 Gloom Samples (found by clicking the Post to Friends button in the quest window or found on the Newsfeed)
  • Tip: You can post this request every 6 hours
• Craft 3 Gloom Elixirs (crafted in the Kitchen)
  • Gloom Elixir Recipe: 1 hour; 2 Gloom Samples, 5 Milk Bottles, 2 Amber, 3 Bottles of Ink
• Use 3 Gloom Elixirs on Flowers (careful, Gloom Elixir may turn the Flower it's used on into something unusual)
  • Tip: Gloom Elixir permanently changes the flower into a new item - an Experimental Flower.
  • Tend Experimental Flowers to get Grubs, Ogre's Belch, and Animal Bones

Quest 3: Up All Night

Quest tasks

• Craft 2 Vegetable Cocktails (crafted in the Kitchen)
  • Vegetable Cocktail recipe: 12 Carrots, 8 Cabbage, 6 Oats, 5 Tomatoes
• Have 3 Parchment (crafted in the Studio)
• Have 2 Icy Torches (crafted in the Workshop)

Quest rewards

• 2,000 Coins
• 40 XP
• 1 Sparkler (stored under the Decor section of your Inventory)

Quest 4: Design Realized

Quest tasks

• Mine Rocks 10 times
• Have 3 Flaxseed Oil (crafted in the Kitchen)
• Place and build Giovanni's Gloom Slurper Machine (stored under the Decor section of your Inventory)

Gloom Slurper Construction Materials

• 10 Coal
• 10 Wood Planks
• 3 Ropes
• 5 Gloom Extract (post to friends)

Quest 5: New Direction

Quest tasks

• Tax 10 Houses
• Visit 3 Neighbors
• Have 5 Bags of Nails (found from Blacksmith Buildings or crafted in the Workshop)

Quest 6: Inventing is Hard Work

Quest tasks

• Craft 2 Hammers in the Workshop
• Have 5 Down Feathers (found by tending adult Geese)
• Have 1 Anvil (crafted in the Workshop)

Quest 7: Gloom Converter

Quest tasks

• Have 7 Lightning in a Jar (found by clicking the Post to Friends button in the quest window or found on the Newsfeed)
• Finish the Gloom Converter
• Collect Crystal Shards from the Gloom Converter 3 times
  • Tip: You can collect from the Gloom Converter every 12 hours

Gloom Converter Construction Materials

• 7 Lightning in a Jar (post to friends)
• 6 Gold Bricks
• 4 Iron Bars
• 2 Purity Wands (crafted in the studio)
  • Purity Wand Recipe: 1.5 hours; 2 Purity Talismans, 1 Wood Club, 3 Alchemist Powder
  • Tip: This recipe will unlock in the Studio when you start this quest

Q: What will a Gloom Elixir do to my Flowers if I use it on them?
A: Each Flower that a Gloom Elixir is used on will be turned into a Gloom Experiment for Giovanni to study. Be careful which Flowers you choose to use them on.

Q: Are there any pre-requisites to receive this quest line?
A: Once you complete quest #2 of Giovanni's Renaissance Man Studio Mastery, and are level 17 or above, you should gain access to this quest line.
