St. Patrick's Day "Over the Rainbow" Quest Guide [Expired]

Primary tabs

St. Patrick's Day is near, and a lost leprechaun got stranded in your kingdom.  Help him rebuild his magic rainbow to get home, and he'll reward you with a Pot of Gold!

NOTE: Expires on March 26th, 2012.

Sullivan the Leprechaun's "Over the Rainbow" Quest Guide

This quest series has 12 parts, in which you'll find the leprechaun and then restore his Rainbow one band at a time. The Rainbow is anchored to the Pot of Gold "building", and it gets bigger and brighter with each step.  It has 7 bands of color that you need to repair for the last 7 quests, 1 band per quest.  Each time you restore a color band of the Rainbow as you proceed through the quests, your Pot of Gold is upgraded and you earn more coins! Each time this happens you get to collect the taxes from it immediately.  It's not necessary to complete all of the quests; you'll get to keep the Pot of Gold in your kingdom even if you don't finish them all.  But the more quests you complete, the more gold it will produce when you collect taxes.

Tip: Stock up on the materials you'll need:

  • Carrots
  • Flax
  • Tomatoes
  • Red and Blue Feathers
  • Wool
  • Berries
  • Beeswax
  • Ogre's Belch
  • Stone Blocks
  • Reputation

Tip: You'll need to collect taxes from the Pot of Gold for Quest 9, so hold off on collecting from it at the end of Quest 8 until you click on Sullivan to start Quest 9.  Otherwise, you'll need to wait an extra day for it to become ready again.

I worry that I might be spending resources on time limited quests which might be better spent on strengthening my kingdom overall.  By resources, I mean not only items, but workshop space/time and item requests from friends. For example, is it more valuable to have a blue stripe in my rainbow or a blacksmith or to quest towards Stonehenge?

I really appreciate the advice from experienced players. Thank you!

There are always tradeoffs in making these decisions.  In general, a limited-time quest should get priority simply because it has a time limit while other things don't.  But whether or not a particular quest is worth bothering to do at all?  That's mostly a matter of your own taste, and what your goals are in playing the game.  CastleVille doesn't have just one defined goal but several that can be rewarding to work on - leveling up, Castle points, land expansion, or decorating and collections.  Sometimes the different goals do conflict, but sometimes one may be a pre-requisite for another.  It's a very good question, and deserves a full article in response (which we're working on).  We welcome input from other players on the subject!

I appreciate your response--it answered my question perfectly. I will keep an eye out for the full article. Thank you!!

First off I would like to say this has to be the best site I have found for CastleVille, and I will be coming here from now on for all my quest needs ... now for my question.

When I finished this quest I noticed the progress bar for the red had not gone away, so when I clicked on it, and the quest window came up about creating the charms for the rainbow, but before I could read it to see if the information could change, I lost my internet connection, and needed to reload CastleVille, and when I came back in the progress bar was gone, but I notice when I mouse over my Pot O' Gold it still says I need to finish my Sullivan quests. I thought they were completed. Have I missed something?

Thank you for your help,

Kimberly Neville

Thank you for the kind words!  Your quest is probably completed OK.  The "finish more quests" message that hovers over the Pot of Gold after completion is happening to other players too, and it doesn't really mean anything.  Do you see a red band on the left side of the rainbow that comes out of the Pot of Gold?  If so, then you're all set.

Yes, I have the full rainbow, and I get the full 3k in taxes when I collect.

Thank you for your reply :) Cheers!

I understand that I get to keep the pot of gold, but I don't want it anymore. The game started the quest way too late for me to finish it. I never even finished the first band in the rainbow. I like the pot of gold, but I'm not getting many coins from it and it's taking up much needed space in my kingdom. I tried storing it in my storage cellar, but it won't go. Is there any way to get rid of it?

They will probably make it storable sometime soon, like they've done previously with other special items.

And by the way, you can still upgrade the Pot of Gold to get the maximum 3000 coins from it, even though the quest has expired.

Once I have the pot of gold and collecting from it.  Can I use the charms in my inventory or will the rays go away if I do?

Once I have the pot of gold and collecting from it.  Can I use the charms in my inventory or will the rays go away if I do?

Once your Pot of Gold is complete, it's permanent.  You're free to use the charms in your inventory, and nothing will affect the Pot of Gold in your kingdom.

Sullivan is gone, I have 2 bands of color complete, but it won't let me complete any more colors.  When I click on the pot of gold, it just says complete more of Sullivans quests.

sullivan wont move how can i get him to move
